Amidst all the hype for the Anime Festival Asia 2008. I was reading through the different blogs and sites about the event and at May’N blog, and i eventually chanced upon this news. And yes, Speed is back and their new single あしたの空 will be out on 12th of Nov.

Many thanks to Hika whose blog link I found under one of the comments. Anyway, from her site, I assume its a she in this case (correct me if I’m wrong), it seems that they had a live in Budokan on the 31st of Aug. According to her its a 完全復活.

And now a bit on the history of Speed.

The 4 members are as followed:

• 島袋寛子 （しまぶくろ ひろこ、hiro、1984年4月7日 A型）
• 今井絵理子 （いまい えりこ、elly、1983年9月22日 O型）
• 上原多香子 （うえはら たかこ、1983年1月14日 A型）
• 新垣仁絵 （あらかき ひとえ、HITOE、1981年4月7日 AB型）

And surprisingly, 2 of their birthdays are very close to mine.

Anyway, Speed originated in 1992, with the current 4 members and another 3 others as a unit called BRAND-NEW KIDS. The four of them were later selected from among these 7 to form SPEED.

It was only till 1996 then they released their 1st single Body & Soul.

By 1997, they had released their 5th single White Love, which many of you will find it familiar. It was about that time, from what I can remember, that SPEED became quite popular in Singapore.

In 2000, SPEED announces its 解散 and since then has came back together occasionally for charity events.

On 20th August 2008, 完全復活発表 and on 31st was their 完全復活 live.

There were more events and singles in the making from what I can see.

For now, I would be searching for some of their old songs to listen to till the new single is out.
