Iteza Gogo Kuji Don’t be late
dodgethis | November 20, 2008As with Ichirou Mizuki’s arrival yesterday, the same bunch of us waited at Changi Airport Terminal 1 to welcome the two remaining guests for Anime Festival Asia. This time, it was both Kunio Okawara and May’n.
Thankfully, today’s flight was not delayed for two hours like Aniki’s. The flight arrived on time today. Arriving at the arrival hall, it seemed that the organisers were taking the arrival seriously and had requested barricades be put up in case the crowd was overflowing. Other than the same bunch yesterday, there were only like four additional people who turned up. Quite disappointing if i had to say so myself. Security was tighter today so we could present either with gifts or ask for group photos. But we would lack in numbers, we would not lack in passion.
Mista and Xeph of CDS both brought down two large prints of Ranka Lee and Sheryl Nome as part of the welcome montage. I am torn between which one I prefer.
Some random pictures we took while waiting

Kir.. Wait, who’s that calafare?
When the baggage belt started moving, we eagerly awaited who would come out first. From our experience yesterday, we knew that each guest would be escorted by at least four security guards. First to appear was Okawara-sensei, decked out in pair of shades, not something I was expecting him to wear. He was accompanied by three others who I am guessing are Bandai staff. AS he came out, we began to chant his name. I was so tempted to start singing the opening theme of GaoGaiGar, in honour of his greatest work.
It was a long wait but we finally saw her. May’n was finally out of immigration. Interstingly enough, she had decided to take her flight in a pair of denim hotpants. Passenger airliners can get chilly when they are cruising at altitude. As she came out, we began chanting her name too using the one I had learnt from Animelo. MEI-II-NN! MEI-II-NN! MEI-II-NN! Yes, it’s three syllables and yes, this is what will be chanted at her concert as well. Sorry for the blurry pics. Some of them were taken at 15x zoom.
Over dinner, Julius commented to me that she reminded him of Minami Kuriyabashi, in terms of looks, because of their penchant for hotpants and their facial structures.
Before I end off, I need to thank some people. Our thanks to the organisers of AFA for giving us the chance to welcome the three guests to Singapore. And Bonkurasu and SPLA for the sharing of the photos across our blogs.
See you guys at the press conference and AFA itself!
