Why must she do this to me?

I was lurking around the Net when I came across these pictures. Yes, the coloured prototype of Volks’ Fate Testarossa Harlaown (my wife) is finally complete, and the figure looks like it might be worth the arm and the leg it will take to buy it. More pictures and fanboyism commentary after the break.

Look at the exquisite details wrought into the figure itself. Can Alter match this with their own upcoming Sonic Form Fate? I hope so, but right now if you only want a single Sonic Form Fate figure, without a doubt this is it.

Yes, she comes with at least one set of exchangable face and arms, along with the all-important Riot Zamber for good value addedness.

Speaking of value, the figure’s scale is 1/7, and it will debut in July 09 for around 8379 yen. Now, the question is whether this will be released as a Volks store exclusive, because if it is, you can be sure that international buyers are going to pay way more than its stated price if they want to procure the figure.

While we have yet to see Alter’s own offering in more detail, I suspect it will be good, if Alter’s previous Nanoha figures are anything to go by. Volks’ Sonic Form Fate has become the industrial benchmark for the character… Should the quality of Alter’s version be directly comparable to this and yet at the same time cheaper and more easily accessible to international customers, then Alter will have a truly great product in their hands.

Of course, you could always be like me and make plans to buy both, which is precisely what my ”2009 Bankruptcy Plan” entails.

Volks has updated their site with the release schedule for the figures. All three will be up for preorder at Comiket 75 next week first and one last chance in February on the Volks site. They will be released individually. Of note is this ‘ヴィヴィオ　先行予約の方にお渡し開始’. It seems there will be a Vivio figure as well, comes free if you buy all ‘three’.
