First of all, allow us to welcome you to the No Kidding-Desperate Situation (NK-DS) Sale!
Ok, we are not all in a desperate situation, but since Bjorn came up with this rather witty name, we decided to go along with it for the very first sale held on this blog. You will find lots of different stuff here, ranging from figures, anime DVDs, anime magazines to even some Comiket exclusive items, all going for very reasonable prices.
After last year’s fiasco of only having eight cars (nine, if you want to be anal) finish, it’s another start for the F1 season and time for the opening race in Melbourne. Brawn GP (Now known as Virgin, thanks to Richard Branson) shocked no one yesterday with both of their cars, driven by Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, qualifying on the front row of the grid, beating by a far shot the stalwarts of the sport like Ferrari and MacLaren. Last year’s rookie of the year Sebestian Vettel qualified third on the grid. With such results coming from the lower end teams, how would this translate for the race itself, and maybe the rest of the year? More after the jump.
With the memories of our marathon of Animelo 08 still fresh on my mind, I thought it would be a good idea to write down what I felt about the concert, before my muddled mind forgets everything. I will only be writing my impressions of what I thought were outstanding songs or singers, since there is really not much point to me commenting about the artistes or songs that I am not familiar with. Sentinel011 of Bonkurasu was with us during the marathon, please feel free to head over to his site to read what he has to say about the event.

My Animelo BDs and May’n DVDs arrived this afternoon, courtesy of Amazon Japan and FedEx. Happened while I was in class. The reviews won’t be coming that soon. The end of a school term is coming and with them, presentations and exams. I’ll see what I can sneak in between. Until then, some pictures of the stuff included after the jump.

Okay, Minami is a stalwart for the event. BUT FICTION FUCKING JUNCTION. HELL YEAH. I HOPE MAAYA SAKAMOTO IS ADDED FOR DAY TWO AS WELL. PLEASE LET IT BE. BRB SAVING FOR TICKET.
Looking good there, Mazinger Z! It is amazing how timeless Go Nagai’s original design has proven to be. It has been more than 30 years since Mazinger Z’s debut and it still looks set to kick Dr Hell right back into hell.
The other piece of news is reproduced from the Mazinger Z section of Tamashii Nations, which seems to be the official site for Soul of Chogokin figures. The big surprise? Its in English! Go read it for yourself, but I will just zoom in on a single paragraph:
“About those “all new attacks and weapons,” they’re still under wraps so I can’t say anything just yet. I will share this: Takenobu Terada, producer of the Super Robot Wars game series, always said to me “Mazinger needs a full-screen clearing weapon of his own!” The time has come for his dream to become a reality.”
I literally laughed like a madman when I read that. Mazinger Z with a map-clearing weapon? Terada was not the only one dreaming here, and he certainly will not be the only one having his dream turned into reality.
The 4th of April draws ever nearer, and I feel the hot blood within me pound faster as the date approaches. More Super Robot songs sang by Aniki were played on my MP3 player, and I found myself rewatching episodes of Mazinkaiser just to reaquaint myself with how a Super Robot, a Mazinger, fights and wins. Leave Kira, Shin, Setsuna and all the emo-powered Gundam duels behind, people. Kabuto Kouji and Mazinger Z will show you how it must be done.

P.S: I just finished writing this article when Nana’s Brave Phoenix started up on my player. You know what would be awesome? Nana singing an insert song for Shin Mazinger. It’s probably never going to happen, but hey, Mazinger Z is already getting a map-clearing weapon, so you never know!
I grinned like an idiot when I saw this scene. Only Ryuji would have the guts to claim Taiga as his wife AND get her to bow to his grandparents properly. He truly earned my respect here, but let us think about it for a moment. He would never have managed it if this was the Taiga in the beginning of the show. Talk about character development…
Somewhere around the middle of Toradora, I already had the sneaking suspicion that I might be watching the best Kugimiya Rie/JC Staff show ever made. The recent episodes pretty much confirmed my opinion. Episode 24 was simply beautiful, with a certain movie-like quality comparable to the best that any other studios can offer, including KyoAni.
There is much to be said about Toradora as a whole, but I think I shall leave that for the series review that I will write after the show properly ends. Let us hope JC Staff does not screw up on the very last lap of the race.
And Kugimiya Rie. She is too awesome. Just.. too awesome.

Yes, we love you Nagisa、and so we will love this school too!
Most of us at NK-DS have finished Clannad AS and done our fair share of laughing and weeping. For the first time on our site, three of our writers are going to share their thoughts in a single post dedicated to the series that touched so many hearts, and caused so much tears and laughter.
First up is Julius Firefocht, the guy who supposedly dropped Clannad AS. Next up would be Mycstea, the guy who marathoned it and lived to tell the tale, and last but not least would be Xak, our resident Noto/Kotomi fan. With the introductions done, we shall begin after the jump. Spoilers ahead, be warned…
