K-ON! Episode 1 Review: Lucky Star cast?
bj0rN | April 5, 2009And so I’m back once again to write since I have more time on my hands now (or rather, I feel a huge urge to write), I’ll be doing thoughts and impression of K-ON! Why? Because it rocks.
So K-on starts with Hirasawa Yui’s trip to school with introductions to all the characters. She gets troubled and struggles to find a suitable club to join but even so, she has decided to join at least one. Meanwhile Tainaka Ritsu drags Akiyama Mio to look for a music club to join around school and learnt that there’s a “light music” club, but since all the members graduated last year with nobody remaining, the club would need four new members to continue on. Ritsu decides to take the chance to be president of the club and try to find two new members for the club. After already deciding that Mio will also be a new member, both of them chanced upon Tsumugi Kotobuki, who goes inbto the light music room to ask if they know where the chorus club is. After some persuasion and pathetic acting from Ritsu, she joins and decides to play the keyboard. They start to put up posters to attract new members and Yui saw the posters and decides to audition. But she can’t play an instrument besides the castanet. After certain amounts of pleading and after hearing the girls play she agrees to learn guitar and join the club and so they remained as an official club.
KyoAni has lived up to their expectations in terms of good directing and having to keep us entertain with a very good start in the show. In fact, the first thing that came to my mind was like, “this feels like Lucky Star cast got thrown inside”. WIth Yui resembling Tsukasa, Mio as Kagami, Ritsu as Misao and lastly, Tsumugi as Miyuki.
The castanet scene was hilarious. At least it wasn’t a recorder (reminds me of Tsukasa). So was Krauser’s appearance…
Krauser: “TEME! SATSUGAI SURU ZO!”
Yui: >A< UUU~~ DOSHIO?!
Oh yeah, my favourite character has got to be Mio. She’s just too damn hot. *fap fap fap*
Mio is a shy girl in the light music club who plays a left-handed, 3-Color Sunburst Fender Precision Bass with an attached pickguard made out of tortoiseshell. She originally intended to join the literary club, but was forced (or rather, somehow just went along with it) into the light music club by her childhood friend Ritsu. She gets excellent grades in school, and is bad with listening to stories involving painful experiences, which I think is kind of cute when you get to see her reactions.
With her being the lead singer for the ED is a good choice too. Oh yeah~ She’s also damn hot in the costume with the touch of 3 stripes below her left eyes. Love the costume design and song!!!
And I think her taking the role of the bassist is probably the best thing for her too. =X
Oh yeah~ The characters of K-On! have surnames derived from members of the Japanese bands P-Model (techno pop band that disbanded in 1999) and The Pillows (alternate rock band that got involved with FLCL’s OST). And so Mio’s surname is taken from former P-Model bassist and keyboardist Katsuhiko Akiyama.
Now pardon me while I enjoy some K-ON! doujins of her.

Mio seems to instantly have become the most popular character
digitalboy | April 6, 2009Mio seems to instantly have become the most popular character in the Western fanbase while Yui easily swweps in up in the East. I agree that Mio is the most sexy, but I like Ritsu best by default.
I hate Goth. That's all im going to say.
