Kara no Kyoukai 6: Project F gone wrong(or right).

When I first heard that Nana would be in KnK 6, I was practically delirious at the prospect of having Maaya Sakamoto and Nana in the same show together. Well, the show turned out to have practically no Nana-Maaya interaction, but Nana’s performance as Ouji Misaya more than made up for it. Ouji is probably what Fate would have grown up to be had she not met Nanoha.
I never thought Nana had an “onee-sama” voice, nor did I know that batshit-insane Nana could be so sexy. I admit, I was turned on by Ouji’s laughter when she was confronted by Azaka before the final battle. Treasure this moment, guys. Nana is not going to have much more chances to play crazy ojou-samas in the future.
Ayumi Fujimura also turns in a convincing performance as Azaka, the fire-spewing mage with a severe brother complex. This episode is all about Azaka, with Shiki taking a backseat role this time round. Azaka herself is a pretty interesting character, a jealous younger sister who has no qualms with burning harmless plushies of her love rival and getting her hands dirty in combat. If Ouji brings in the sexy, then Azaka brings in the moe, both literally and figuratively.
This episode is well animated, perhaps a result of having the budget spread out over a shorter movie. Azaka and Ouji’s fight scene is something to behold… fluidly animated with good flame and particle effects that nicely contrasts with the dark background. On my part, I just found myself looping Ouji’s laughter over and over again. It’s strangely addicting, for some reason.
This is Julius Firefocht, signing off.
