Stuff dredged out of Seiup – July 09, Nana Edition
Julius_Firefocht | July 9, 2009Smiling Nana, and in my opinion the best picture in this post.
It is the month of July, the 7th month of the year, and Nana just completed her Live Diamond performance at Seibu Dome. Who else but Nana could be the cover girl this month? Presenting to you Stuff dredged out of Seiup (SDOOS), Nana edition.
As the name suggests, this month’s feature will be largely focused on Nana. I’m just going to put together the best Nana pictures that I have collected in Seiup over the past month, and we shall gawk and admire them together. Some of the pictures are older, but you will see that the young Nana has a certain charm to her too.
In other news, I really do need to think of a better name or acronym for this feature. Perhaps next month…
Contemplative Nana.
I am not certain where this picture came from. It could be a scan of a postcard from one of her live performances, or some exclusive Nana fanclub merchandise that we gaijins do not have access to. Whatever the origins, I thought it was an outstanding picture of our singing goddess, with her looking all contemplative and thoughtful.
Gothic-Lolita Nana.
Yes, I too was very surprised to find this picture. Up till now, I still wonder if this is a cunningly made photoshop. Well, fake or real, it offers a side of Nana that we seldom see. If only she would pose together with Yukari Tamura in this costume.
Kimono Nana.
We had Kimono Nana in the Etsuraku Camellia PV, but this version captured my attention with her shy smile and coy pose. This seems to be taken relatively early on in her career, probably slightly after the Nanoha A’s days.
C-cup Nana.
Bonkurasu had already written about this, but I swear my eyes popped out when I first saw this on Seiup. My world literally crashed down around me for a moment. My brain went “Nana? C-cup? UNPOSSIBLE!” before I took a closer look and realized it was the frills of her top.
Horribly misleading camera angle, but you gotta give it to the camera-man. That guy did his job well.
And here is more of Nana from the same magazine.
Shop out the creases, clean up the image and this would be perfect material for a wallpaper. In fact it is one of the more appealing Nana pictures that I have seen, especially since I am writing this paragraph while listening to Dancing in the velvet moon.
Swimsuit Nana #1
Swimsuit Nana #2
Ok… these are taken really early on, and picture #1 can be found in Iris, Nana’s photobook that was released in 2002. You can tell, since Nana hardly looks like that these days. These are the pictures of a young seiyuu-singer still unsure of herself, struggling to secure a toehold in the industry while waiting for the big break that would propel her into anison legend and earn her the legions of loyal fans. Take these pictures and compare them with the beautiful and confident lady that we see now, and you can’t help but look back and realize how far Nana has progressed in these years.
Trivia: Initially I was undecided between picture #1 and picture #2, until a 3rd voice cut in and said “OH HO HO, WHY NOT TAKE BOTH???”
That 3rd voice had a point, so I posted both.
Ok, I was half-joking about the voice. If only Nana would wear the same swimsuits and retake the pictures now… hang on, incoming nosebleed.
Serious Nana
Another mysterious picture that turned up on Seiup from nowhere. I like how the black background contrasts with Nana’s skin, making her stand out even more. Looking at her expression, I wonder if she was deprived of curry for several days before the photoshoot. What else could make Nana look so… pissed?
Natural Nana
I have seen this before, but this has always remained as one of my favourite pictures of Nana. This is Nana in her natural state, with minimal makeup, everyday attire and million-dollar smile. Something about this picture just warms my heart whenever I see it, and I thought it would be good to share the love.
Racer Nana
Much as I wish the caption was Race Queen Nana, Fate is not that kind to us. I do get a kick out of seeing Nana in a full-body race suit, but that is only because of the automotive fan in me. Just about the only detail I could recall about this picture is the fact that Nana had to register herself as Kondo Nana to enter the event. And no, I don’t think she won the event either.
Schoolgirl Nana
This is the last picture, so it has to be something good. Schoolgirl Nana is the best I have to offer for now, at least until I get my hands on a picture of the elusive Meido Nana. This is from the PV of Aoi Iro, if I were to venture a guess. It’s not a new picture, but how often do you see Nana in schoolgirl uniforms these days?
That’s the end of this month’s SDOOS, Nana edition. If I can find the time, I will write up the regular edition of SDOOS, since there are quite a lot of interesting pictures worth sharing this month. Till then!
This is Julius Firefocht, signing off.

danie~ | July 9, 2009The “mysterious Nana” in black has a better photo in that set with her smiling, I have the magazine way back in Aussie lol.
The C-cup Nana came from a manga digest book, not a magazine.
And the gothic lolita is real, I got the whole set (and the real thing) too. Prob one of the most LOL nana set ever.
