A.C.M.E after-action report, and other happenings.

This sign should be familiar to event attendees.

We actually arrived at NAFA on Friday night, prepared to do some overnight camping for the loot we were aiming for. Unfortunately, halfway through Bjorn, Shia and a few of us got sidetracked and we ended up playing Magic the Gathering at a secret location in the area. I managed to stay alert until 4.30am before I decided I was too tired and needed to go home to sleep. Bjorn and me ended up taking a cab back home since we could not find the correct Night-Rider service to get us home. Expensive cab fare is expensive.

Here are the guys who actually camped at their spots through the night right until morning when the event started.

I wish I had this level of endurance, but nah. The heat at night killed me.

The event itself was crowded, in a good way. The queue was long, the WS tournament was in full swing and enjoyed a very healthy attendence, while KKnM continued to do a roaring business in C76 items. Doujin booths were numerous too; I saw some K-On can badges that I liked but had to give up due to monetary constraints. Speaking of which, all my money went into this:

Who I sleep with at night.

Yup, the F-side for the Nanoha Movie drama CD. The pillowcase of my wife is just a nice backdrop, it was actually bought a lot earlier. I haven’t opened the Drama CD package yet, and I doubt I ever will.

Here are some pictures of the event itself:

We headed to Natsu Matsuri right after A.C.M.E, and we made the mistake of taking a direct bus there instead of taking a train then switching to a bus. The bus service was so slow that it was appalling. We did managed to catch some sleep along the way, which is a good thing.

Natsu Matsuri was as per normal this year, no new highlights except the somewhat lower standards of the food and the Asahi booze running out earlier than usual. The cultural performances were still excellent, but we found the festival this year strangely unsatisfying. In fact we ended up going to Eastpoint to eat again at Burger King. The festival was not total boredom though,  something interesting did happen while we were eating.

Halfway through dinner we were discussing over how Sentinel011 actually managed to fall asleep halfway through Animelo, and how it was theoretically impossible to sleep in a concert that has JAM Project. So Ume from  Bonkurasu made the following comic:

lol

I will leave it to you guys to figure out who is who.

That’s all for the after-action report. The monthly Seiup feature will be up when its ready, the posts in Seiup has been rather slow as of late. Or maybe there is simply not enough new pictures of seiyuus to go around now.

This is Julius Firefocht, signing off.
