Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works movie announced.

Good news for fans of Tosaka Rin. The rumor of a Fate/Stay Night movie has finally been confirmed to be the animation of the Unlimited Blade Works arc. The movie will debut on the 23rd of January next year, and apparently the seiyuu cast from the anime series will be carried over wholesale into the movie.
That means we will get more of Kana Ueda as Rin, which is a very good thing since I consider Rin as one of Kana Ueda’s best work ever. She almost always stole the show from Shiro and Saber whenever she appeared, and the Rin fan in me rejoices in her getting a whole movie to call her own.
The UBW movie aside, this trend of producing anime movies seems to be on the rise. Off the top of my head I can think of Nanoha, Gurren Lagaan, Evangelion, Macross Frontier and Kara no Kyoukai, with KnK having the distinction of never having a prior anime series adaptation before hitting the theaters. What’s next…. a K-On movie perhaps? I know I would dearly love to see a Shin Mazinger movie!
This is Julius Firefocht, signing off.

Except that the studio, scriptwriter and director also carry over.

God, the F/SN anime was terrible. Really atrocious. I'm worried that

I’m worried that the Archer-fan-centric fanbase of F/SN will ruin this movie. He’s increasingly having his brooding, “cool” side emphasized, when this is what makes him typically the most annoying character in the original game. Even Shinji is more enjoyable to read about, if for no other reason than his over-the-top attitude. The one redeeming scene for the character is in UBW, and it’s when he goes against this personality that the fans love; ala Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi, Archer’s all but crying and screaming as he curses his love and devotion to his father. I think that erring on the side of whiny would be more appropriate in this case than erring on the side of brooding, and I hope that the adaptation delivers smoothly.
Of course, we’d all rather see a Heaven’s Feel movie… but whatever. The themes of sexual abuse and the heavy pro-choice vs. pro-life overtones would be too real, I guess. Then again, there’s that awesome Ilya scene in UBW… I wonder if they’ll really have the balls to do it without subduing it a tad.
