Kimi ni Todoke Ep 3: Sweet Sawako is sweet.

So, as I mentioned in an earlier post, people are starting to realize just how sweet Sawako actually is. I demand a kimono scene, dammit.
The past few episodes had Sawako building her social life from the ground up, and to this day I am quite surprised at the high amount of emotional energy that I am investing into her. It has been a while since I cheered so hard for a character in any anime. And Kimi ni Todoke is supposed to be one of the “sleepers” of this season. So much for the high profile projects like Railgun and Nogizaka Haruka S2…
The enemy appears.
A new character is introduced, voiced by Aya Hirano. It is the enshrined right of every Nana fan to bare their fangs and growl menacingly whenever a character voiced by Deko appears, thanks to Aya’s transparent attempt to ride on Nana’s popularity using White Album. This is doubly so in this case, since I automatically classify as an enemy anything that threatens the growth of Sawako’s budding social life and her relationship to Kazehaya. Being voiced by Aya Hirano only gives me more excuses to pour the irrational hate on her, which is a good thing.
Soldier on, Sawako. We are all rooting for you.
This is Julius Firefocht, signing off.
