Nuclear launch detected!

Julius_Firefocht | June 18, 2010

I just needed an excuse to post this picture.

Right… where to start. Let’s begin with Starcraft II. I’ve started playing this evil evil game and my brain’s currently engrossed with ways to spam as many Zealots as possible in as short a time as possible. I’m never going to be as good as the crazy Koreans, but I would at least aspire to beat the average Singaporean player out there. I swear those Koreans are going to evolve into Hydralisks and Zerglings eventually. That’s not a bad idea though, as the North Koreans will then finally have a legitimate reason to drop a nuke on their mutated Southern brethren.

“Nuclear launch detected. LOL GG kekekekekekekeke”

I’ve got not much to say on the anime front, except that Working!!! is turning out to be the most consistently entertaining anime this season. This is not the place to start talking about anime though… I will probably devote an entire post to sum up this season, if I can find the time.

More importantly, I am posting with an intent to support an event called Mascot Parade. Here’s the link to the event’s website: http://www.mascotparade.org/

The beginning of the 22nd year of my life and my newly found freedom.

bj0rN | June 11, 2010

And so I’ve hit 22 this year recently and maybe it’s just me, but time seems to pass a lot faster the moment you hit your adulthood. Big thanks to all my friends who sent me their wishes and also to those who spent time with me. Managed to spend time with that special someone too. Most importantly to all the close friends that I have who have been putting up with me all these years.

It’s been quite awhile since I actually sat down and write down my thoughts and how I feel. Last I recalled was probably the good old days when SGAB was still active and when I was still writing at the old AB site. Looking back, I really missed those days when we’re all so carefree and had lots of fun. Our group was very bonded then too and we used to have gatherings now and then. Some memorial events are like the massive LAN party we had at E2MAX, the SGAB anniversary gatherings and even further back to when I first met guys like TJ, Tsubaki and DM at the local Streetfest at Cineleisure. The countless nights of bullshit and crap that we’ll talk about on mIRC. I guess now we’re all at the point where we’re all mostly busy with our own lives and perhaps could never go back to how it was before. Man, we sure did a lot of stuff together back then and it’s just so nostalgic thinking back. And you know what? I’m actually intending to go back to try and go back to those days again, and to start off, is by reopening my old blog, which I’ll probably get a new domain and all and start it anew.

To be honest, the birth of SGAB and its members gave me more excitement in life and thanks to that, I’ve met many great people, of which I’m still in contact even today and I consider them as my very close circle of friends. You guys know who you are and seriously… I don’t know what I’ll do without them actually.

Nowadays, I’m think I’m not as “otaku” as I used to be. I realized that I don’t really spend much on merchandises these days. Yes, some people can call me for being a failure for being an otaku, some can say that I have not enough love, but I guess that’s the way it is already and it might or might not change. I hardly buy figurines anymore unless it’s really terrific and I’m actually selling most of my stuff off. I’ve also cut down on my magazine and manga subscriptions though I still buy some light novels from time to time to read. To me, my love for them is still there, just that my wallet is not really agreeing to it since I have other priorities now. Oh yeah, and I managed to make a lot more friends through WS, especially the gang that frequents TCG. They are really an awesome and unique group of people.

Moving along, today is also the day I finally get my long awaited freedom back again. I’m still having mixed feelings about it since part of me is happy that I’m finally free to do whatever I want to do again and another half of me is actually, afraid of what lies in store for me ahead. Of course, days spent during NS were also great and I wanna thank my good pals in MEC, who have been taking care and working alongside with me. During my last week, I actually somehow managed to chat up with a few fellow soldiers and found out that they used to read my old website a lot. I feel quite honored and happy that there are actually people reading and following the crap that I wrote then. Too bad we won’t really be seeing each other much now, but I do hope that they’ll visit the new site when the time comes.

Alright, shout out to Paul for being an awesome senior and who is still in close contact with me. Elnathan, for being a very understanding guy and always listens to my troubles and woes. I guess it’s partially my fault for getting him so interested in Japanese and especially Mizuki Nana too. Let’s not forget my fellow bunk-mates and the other fellow MEC crew, especially Platoon 4, whom I spent time with for a couple of months together just before I went for my course and got separated from them.

So what lies ahead of me next? As for now, I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that I can continue my studies and meanwhile working to have some income of my own to spend. Actually, I’m getting quite pissed off with people bugging me about what’s up next and expects me to give them a definite answer, as if everything in life has been placed nicely in front of me. I’m also going to continue my Japanese language studies. I’m grateful to Vivian for encouraging me and being my source of motivation. She’s been an influential person in my life and the future to come.

Oh yes, the promise I made 2 years ago about going to Japan? I’m still going to fulfill it and it’s something that I look forward to after all these years.

Once again thanks for the nice memories and best wishes to everyone.

Quick roundup of Thursday night Nico Live segment – Masaki Endoh and Hitomi Harada

dodgethis | June 10, 2010

Hitomi Harada was awesome. She was oozing moe the moment she appeared. And GJ to the camera man who was caught looking at her chest when the camera cut back in. And I really enjoyed how

Masaki Endoh will solo on Day Two of Animelo. WILL WE GET THAT DUET OF ETERNAL BLAZE WITH NANA? And srsly, Takara, what possessed you to hold a Yuusha event on the same weekend of Animelo? The singer of Yuusha Oh Tanjou won’t be able to attend!

Ichirou Mizuki and Eizo Sakamoto will be reuniting with JAM for the Budokan concerts. No word on Rika Matsumoto. I demand a hair metal moment between Sakamoto and Fukuyama!

Seiyuu cast of The World God Only Knows.

Julius_Firefocht | June 10, 2010

I can’t believe I missed this when it was first announced, but here we go:

Hiro Shimono as Keima Katsuragi

Kanae Ito as Elcea de rux ima

Jun Fukuyama’s absence is partially offset by Kanae Ito’s presence, since I consider Kanae-san a very capable seiyuu in her own right. She has certainly risen far since her Shugo Chara days.

But still, ORZ… WRY NO JUN FUKUYAMA??? HE IS PERFECT FOR THE ROLE! PERFECT!

Hiro Shimono is not bad, but he is simply not as fabulous as Jun Fukuyama. No worries for Kanae Ito’s portrayal of Elcea, but we are going to have to wait till this show airs before we know how well Hiro Shimono will perform as Keima.

A history of eroge.

Julius_Firefocht | June 7, 2010

Pic very related.

I stumbled across this article entirely by accident while doing some research into my project. I almost did not bother to read it, but I am glad I did. This stuff is too good not to share.

Here we go, ladies and gentlemen. A history of eroge.

This article was written back in 2005, but it holds several fundamental truths that remain unchanged to this day. If you ever wondered about the origins and evolution of eroge, and how the eroge genre rose to become a power within the anime/otaku industry, you have to read this. And yes, classics like To Heart, Kanon, Air, Da Capo and even Triangle Heart are mentioned. If you are a Nanoha fan and you have no idea what Triangle Heart is, you have a lot to learn indeed.

Not an eroge, but still very related.

And perhaps most importantly, this article talks about the creation of the sobfest powerhouse that we now know as Key.
