Nuclear launch detected!Julius_Firefocht | June 18, 2010
I just needed an excuse to post this picture.
Right… where to start. Let’s begin with Starcraft II. I’ve started playing this evil evil game and my brain’s currently engrossed with ways to spam as many Zealots as possible in as short a time as possible. I’m never going to be as good as the crazy Koreans, but I would at least aspire to beat the average Singaporean player out there. I swear those Koreans are going to evolve into Hydralisks and Zerglings eventually. That’s not a bad idea though, as the North Koreans will then finally have a legitimate reason to drop a nuke on their mutated Southern brethren.
“Nuclear launch detected. LOL GG kekekekekekekeke”
I’ve got not much to say on the anime front, except that Working!!! is turning out to be the most consistently entertaining anime this season. This is not the place to start talking about anime though… I will probably devote an entire post to sum up this season, if I can find the time.
More importantly, I am posting with an intent to support an event called Mascot Parade. Here’s the link to the event’s website: http://www.mascotparade.org/
The first things you will notice when you enter the website are probably the beautiful faces of Alodia and Ashley. You might remember them as the Witchblade cosplayers from last year’s AFA cosplay competition. They will be returning to Singapore for Mascot Parade.
The next thing you will notice is the date of the event itself.
3rd of July. The same date as the 1st day of Cosfest.
I think anime fans in Singapore are being asked to make a choice here. Go to Cosfest and show your support for a stagnant event that has failed to reinvent itself throughout the years of its existence, or go to Mascot Parade and support an event that dares to position itself as a challenger to the failing incumbent.
Plainly put, Mascot Parade has more to offer for the masses. Bandai is throwing their support behind Mascot Parade with Gundams. Similarly, Genesis Frontier is supporting Mascot Parade with Bushiroad and its highly popular Weiβ Schwarz Trading Card Game. And last but not least, the Moe Moe Kyun Maid Cafe from AFA09 will be featured in Mascot Parade.
The last time all three entities met under one roof was in AFA09, and we all know how well that turned out.
Heck, they are giving away free movie tickets for all cosplay participants, just for being there.
I could go on about how Mascot Parade is looking very superior to Cosfest, but nah. I believe that consumers should always get a choice. I will not say how Cosfest has been offering the very same thing year after year after year, and how we are all tired of the same shit. Nor will I say how the shopping experience at Cosfest is going to suck again, with plenty of bootleg goods on offer. And of course, I will not mention that Cosfest is held in the east while Mascot Parade is held in the heart of the city, at Youth Scape.
So in short, just go to Mascot Parade. You can always go for Mascot Parade on the 1st day and if you have to, you can head to Cosfest on the 2nd day. You won’t regret it.
This is Julius Firefocht, signing off.
