Yes, we know it is a bit off to post our impression of Aniki’s concert 2 weeks after the event itself was over, but we had no choice. The blog was acting weird for a while after our name change, and we had to wait for things to become more stable before posting up any really important articles. And if this is not classified as “really important”, I do not know what is.

On day one of AFA 08, Kunio Okawara, legendary mecha designer, gave a short talk and panel session. For those who are unfamiliar with him, he is the man behind many designs in the Gundam metaseries, including the second season of Gundam 00, which is currently airing. He has also worked on shows such as GaoGaiGar, Gravion and Votoms.

It had been a long weekend and the climax of Anime Festival Asia 2008 was finally here. It was time for May’n to come on stage to perform. Ever since the news was confirmed at the press conference, we had all been eagerly anticipating her first live performance overseas. For me, it would not be my first time seeing her perform live. I had seen her at Animelo earlier this year, alongside industry greats like JAM Project, Momoi Haruko, Aki Misato and Yui Horie amongst others, on day two of the event.

Please note that this post will not contain any pictures of the artiste due to the restriction on photos of her during the performance. We choose to respect the wishes of both the artiste’s management and organisers with regards to this issue. Lucky us! The organisers have sent us some photos of May’n we can use! Who needs a telephoto lens when you got a photog right in front!

As part of the press conference on the 21st of November, I had the chance to do a group interview with Ichirou Mizuki, better known as Aniki to many of us. It was a group affair, rather than an individual one. Present as well were a Thai cosplay magazine and a reporter from MTV Asia. Without further ado, MAZIN GOOOO!

Now that AFA 2008 is over, it is time for us to do the articles for the event. As of now, almost all of our authors are busy with exams or National Service. So, it will take a while for us to the articles. We will be using this post to help you keep track of what has been or is being written. We hope you guys will enjoy the articles! Now that AFA08 is finally over, we, members of NKDS had the time of our lives. Attending the pre-event to check things out, to hear Aniki sing live with us and us singing along with him, filled with hot blooded Garness and to see the lovable May’n enjoy herself and it’s the first time for both of them in Singapore. Not only that, I managed to get an autograph from the man behind Studio 4°C, Koji Morimoto! Just some small information, Studio 4°C did stuffs like Macross Plus, Detroit Metal City, Genius Party and Genius Party Beyond (they screen Genius Party Beyond at the event by the way. It rocked). On top of that they also did MVs like Linkin Park’s “Breaking The Habit”, and Utada Hikaru’s “Passion”. Also, we attended a talk held by Kunio on how he started his career in mecha design and how his inspiration comes from, along some showcase on how he works and the techinique he uses.

This year has been great. And I hope that JAM Project would really come next year. MOTTO MOTTO! Till then, stay tune for our event coverage soon after we sort out the massive amount of pictures and to write up on in depth detail on the event. It’s probably the happiest day of the year for us that some would shed tears.

As with Ichirou Mizuki’s arrival yesterday, the same bunch of us waited at Changi Airport Terminal 1 to welcome the two remaining guests for Anime Festival Asia. This time, it was both Kunio Okawara and May’n.

A photo we will treasure for the rest of our lives.

Bonkurasu and NKDS personnel were at the airport earlier for the experience of a lifetime: the chance to receive Ichirou Mizuki, Aniki himself, to our sunny island of Singapore. Words rarely fail me, but for now I have no idea how to describe the tension and emotion we all felt as we gazed upon the great man, while waiting for him to grace us with his presence.

They have lined up some special stufff just for the event, like discounts on COSPA items (they are the local distributor for the brand in Singapore), Megami subscription specials and much more.
