White Album Season II: Nice Boat incoming.

Julius_Firefocht | November 26, 2009

1

I’ve been neglecting my anime viewing for nearly a month now, thanks to AFA09. So it was with great anticipation that I watched White Album S2 ep5, and boy, I was not disappointed. I admit to raging when Rina kissed that useless guy, though I saw that coming from a mile away. I am only surprised and somewhat disappointed that they stopped at kissing. Having Yuki catch them in bed together would have been interesting, to say the least.

Anyways, I am glad I kept up with White Album S2. I started out watching this for Nana, but the show is certainly strong enough to stand on its own merits. The drama is amazing throughout this season, and not to mention Nana’s voice-acting  in ep5 is absolutely wonderful.

I know its a month late to be talking about ep5, but what the heck, I will be marathoning this up to the latest episode (ep8) by tonight. Wish me luck. And yeah, I still feel like strangling Yuki with my powerfist whenever I hear Deko’s voice.

This is Julius Firefocht, signing off.

How would Nana look in this?

Julius_Firefocht | August 14, 2009

Yup, that’s Ogata Rina’s costume from White Album.  If only Nana would wear this in the upcoming White Album concert. I could have sworn the cutting and size of the costume is made to fit her anyway.

The costume itself can be purchased here, if you are interested.

Just to prove that Nana is not flat, and a bit of updates.

Julius_Firefocht | March 8, 2009

I am sure some of you have seen this picture of Nana before, but I felt the need to post it up. See, Nana is not flat! Well, not too flat. Ok, she is kinda flat, but…. not THAT flat… *mumbles*

Nah, we do actually have a couple of Nana-related news for you.

White Album ep7 review: The Nana episode.

Julius_Firefocht | February 20, 2009

“Let me tell you how this is all going to end…”

White Album ep7 was better, a vast improvement over the nonsense that was ep6. This episode fulfils all my criteria of what a good White Album episode should be; lot of Rina and Nagi-sama Mana, some drama and a good hint of the trainwreck to come. I shall start with a summary of the important happenings.

White Album ep6 review: Better late than never.

Julius_Firefocht | February 14, 2009

No, let’s not.

Truth be told, I found this episode boring. Nothing much happens at all, especially when compared to the high drama in the previous episode, thus giving me a chance to write a noticably shorter article. In fact, episode 6 can be summed up in the following sequence:

1) Misaki is in trouble and asks Touya for help.

2) Touya is too kind and agrees to help.

3) They try to solve Misaki’s problems together.

White Album ep5 review: When a lot of women love a man very much.

Julius_Firefocht | February 5, 2009

Cold ice queen is cold.

Finally, some proper drama. With all that has happened in this episode, I guess this episode is supposed to mark a turning point in the series. Thus, I will go with a heavily summarized version of the events, instead of the scene-by-scene format I used for previous reviews. That should leave me with slightly more space to write my own views and interpretations of the episode. I might stick with this new format if all future episodes are as drama-packed as this one. We shall see.

White Album ep4 review: The importance of cellphones.

Julius_Firefocht | January 29, 2009

I see what you did there…

First of all, my apologies for this late article. I’ve spent the last two days visiting relatives and friends, thanks to Chinese New Year, and it was only today that I found the energy and time to sit down and write this out properly. Well, at least the visits were worth it, and not just for the pleasure of renewing our links with long-lost relatives. Unmarried and/or younger Chinese readers will understand what I mean.

White Album ep3 review.

Julius_Firefocht | January 23, 2009

I’m on your phone, stealing your boyfriend.

Seriously, they might as well rename this show Nana Album or Rina Album. Rina simply dominates the situation whenever she makes an appearance, immediately capturing the viewer’s undivided attention. The effect is similar to how Tohsaka Rin hogged the limelight whenever she appeared in the Fate/Stay Night anime. Except in this case Rina is a main character, thus leaving the other main leads precious little room to shine.

White Album ep2 review: Let the race begin!

Julius_Firefocht | January 14, 2009

Yuki looks clueless. As usual.

Against my personal expectations, White Album ep2 actually turned out better than I thought it would. More Rina and less Yuki is already a big plus in my book. Also, apparently Seven Arcs had more budget than normal for this production. The animation for the 2nd episode was actually slightly better than episode 1, while managing to flesh out the storyline and provide character development. Episode highlights after the break.
